Chandrakala Mohan is a South Indian actress who works in the Kannada film industry, Kannada television industry, the Tulu film industry and the theatre. She hails from Mandya in Karnataka. She has a son named Venugopal. She started her television career in 1995. She has acted in about a thousand dramas and more than fifty serials and movies. Chandrakala is most well known for her work in the television series Puttagowri Maduve directed by K. S. Ramji. The serial was a remake of the Hindi serial Balika Vadhu on Colors TV. She played the role of Ajjama in the Kannada serial. The serial aired on channels like ETV Kannada and Colors Kannada. The serial received a viewership of 3.8 million on Colors Kannada. She is also known for her work in the television series Thayavva directed by Ramesh Krishna. She played the role of Rukmani in the series. The soap opera aired on Udaya TV on 10th December 2011. She acted in the Kannada movie Naa Raani Nee Maharani directed and written by B. Ramamurthy. The feature film was released on 10th December 2010. The movie was a remake of the 1990 movie Raani Maharani directed by B. Ramamurthy himself. She acted in the devotional movie Bhakta Shankara written and directed by B. A. Purushottam. The comedy flick hit the silver screens on 10th February 2017. Her latest project is the upcoming movie Abisarike. She took part in the kabaddi show Super Kabaddi which involves sixty television actors. The sports show aired on Udaya TV from 21st January 2017. Chandrakala received several awards like the International Aryabhatta Award in 2014, the Karnataka State Award, the Zee Awards, the ETV Awards and the Suvarna Awards. In 2017, she won the Best Supporting Role award in the Female category at the Mukhta Tulu Film Award 2016 ceremony for her role in Pilibail Yamunakka.
