Kum. Veerabhadrappa is a well-known Kannada writer. He was born on October 1, 1953, in Kottur, Kudligi Taluk, Bellary District. He is a MA graduate and he retired after serving as a primary teacher for thirty-five years in a school in the villages of Andhra Pradesh. His father was a potter Halappa, and mother was Kotramma. His children are Pururava, Shalivahana and Pravara and he also has a grandson Atharva. He has written two poetries, A Song from the Divi Region and Home without You. Stories written by him are Niginigi Day, Soil First, Calf, Apoorva Chintamani story Doma and other stories, A dog called Sushile and a village called Vagili Bari Kathyalo Anna, and more.
Some of his novels include Fence and Field, Flowers of the Fence, The Story of Hemareddy Mallamma, Belonged to Kotra High School, Yapilu, Shamanna, torrential rain, and The Name is Love. There are several other novels by him. He has also written biographies like Chaplain, Rahula Sankrityana, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Subhadramma Mansoor, Shrikrishna Devaraya. He received numerous awards like the Veachy Foundation Award of Tumkur, the Ranebennur Ladwa Foundation Award, the Honorary Doctorate from Karnataka University, the Message Award, the Gaurisha Kaykini Foundation Award, Sahitya Akademi Prize, the Honorary Award from Rajya Sahitya Akademi, Vardhamana Award, Lankesh Foundation Award, Palace (for novels) Central Sahitya Akademi Award, Prof. K. G. Kundangara Borderland Literary Award, Karnataka Rajyotsava Award, and Nripatunga Award.
