R Ashoka, born on 1st July 1957 in Jalahalli, Bangalore, Karnataka, is the last child of K. Ramaiah and Anjinamma. He is an Indian Politician, serving predominantly in the state of Karnataka. He completed his primary education in the government school of Jalahalli and high school in from HMT School. He used to a kabaddi player in his university days and has represented Bangalore twice. He is currently serving as the Minister of Revenue and Minister of Municipal Administration in the state of Karnataka.

He held the position of Minister of health and family welfare under the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2008. He is seen as a very diligently working politician. In this duration, he used surprise to visit the government and Private hospitals to eliminate the fake medical practices in the area. He has served as the 6th Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka. In 2013-2018, he served as one of the two deputy leaders of opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.

He served as the Minister of Transport (in the Yeddyurappa government from 2008) and Minister of Home Affairs under the Bharatiya Janata Party government and as Minister of Health and Family Welfare under the coalition government of BJP and JDS. He also represents the Padmanabhanagar constituency in the Legislative Assembly. During his time of being the Minister of Transportation, he heavily modernized the system and including innovative methods to automate the working of the department.

R Ashoka is one of the main reasons for the immense glory of BJP in the Bangalore region as he is considered to be one of the most influential leaders in the Bangalore City. He has to lead his party to glorious victories in the 2010 and 2015 Bruhat Bengaluru MahanagaraPalike (BBMP) elections. R Ashoka is one of the politicians who kept getting re-elected from different constituencies or provinces. Even though Ashoka is not eye-blinding, he definitely can’t be ignored by the opposition leaders.
