Kantara : Chapter 1 To Start This Trend In Sandalwood?

Looks like Kantara’s makers have adopted the trend of paid premieres.

Possibly for the first time, a Kannada movie shall have paid premieres a day before the release, i.e. on October 1. The model was adopted from both Mollywood and Bollywood, who had paid premieres for movies like Maidaan, Aavesham, Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan etc.

Kantara : Chapter 1 is the prequel of Kantara, which released in 2022. Directed and produced by Rishab Shetty, who is also the main lead in the movie, the prequel co-stars Jayaram, Kishore Kumar G, Rukmini Vasanth and Gulshan Devaiah in the prominent roles.

Kantara : The Legend was released in 2022 to a blockbuster opening. Made on just a budget of 16 crores, the Kannada fantasy drama pummeled the likes of Ponniyin Selvan, Vikram Vedha etc. to earn 440 crores worldwide. Rishab Shetty also received a National Award for his performance as Shiva, the village ruffian whose paths collide with the local deity, Guliga Deiva.
