Pavithra Gowda was married to Sanjaysingh, who was running a grocery store. The couple has a daughter, Khushi Gowda. After a few years, Pavithra and Sanjay got divorced. In January 2024, Pavithra announced on her social media that she had been in a relationship with Darshan for a decade, accompanied by an image collage. Darshan’s wife, Vijayalakshmi Darshan, noticed this post and posted it on her social media page in frustration.

Pavithra is said to have received some messages on her social media from Renuka Swamy, who worked in a private pharmacy. Renuka Swamy was residing in Chitradurga. He was found dead on 9th June 2024 in a canal at Kamakshipalya, Bangalore. Initially, it was reported that he died by suicide on 8th June. After further investigation, the Karnataka Police found out that it was a murder and suspected Darshan Thoogudeepa. On 11th June, Darshan was taken from his Mysore farmhouse to Bangalore and detained by the cops for further investigation. Pavithra was also arrested on the same day regarding this case.
