Venkatesh Prasad is an actor as well as a cricket player. He was born on 5th October in the year 1969 in Bangalore in the state of Karnataka. He married Simla Prasad in the year 1997. Most of Venkatesh’s work belongs predominantly to the Kannada movie industry. He acted in a movie called Sachin Tendulkar Alla which released in 2014.
He also received various honors for his contribution in the field of cricket which include the prestigious Arjuna Award which he gracefully accepted in the year 2000 and the Ceat International Cricketer of the year for 1996-1997. His career in cricket he played his debut match in the year 1996. He played as a right arm medium fast bowler.
He retired from cricket in the year 2005 after an injury that prevented him from playing cricket to the best of his capacity. After his retirement from competitive cricket, he went on to continue a career as a coach in the sport. He was the coach for Kings XI Punjab during IPL. He also the trained and coached the Indian cricket team for two years from 2007 to 2009. His career in the sport includes 96 wickets which he took in the course of 33 tests with an average of 35.
He also took 196 wickets in the 161 ODI’s that he paid. He was famous for the slower paced deliveries that he bowled. His acting venture through the film Sachin was a story that captured the struggle of an autistic boy who wished to excel in the field of cricket. It revolved around the obstacles he faced and how he overcame all odds to achieve his dreams. Venkatesh played the character of the coach of the protagonist in the story. As a part of the preparation for the shoot, Prasad attended various workshops and got into the skin of the character. He was confident in front of the camera but was nervous while delivering dialogues with much more experienced co-stars like Suhasini. The movie released and received a warm welcome from the masses. The message that the film wished to convey touched everyone’s heart.
Even after a good start in the film industry, Venkatesh is clear about the fact that his first passion is Cricket and he does not wish to deter from the field. He enjoys cricket and is happy to continue coaching the team and helping players learn and benefit from his various experiences and learnings.
