Dhruv Sharma was a deaf Indian cricketer and an actor, he worked in the Kannada film industry. He had a decade-long successful career in cricket as well as in acting. He was born in 1982 in Bangalore, Karnataka. Dhruv died on 1st August 2017 due to a cardiac arrest and multiple organ failure in his home in Bangalore. In his adolescence, his parents discovered that he was dumb and mute.

He had disabilities, but that did not stop Dhruv from building his life into a life well remembered. He left his college in the middle as he faced communication problems and later kept his focus on playing cricket, which he was good at and taking acting lessons.

In 2005, he was in the Indian National Deaf Cricket team; he led the team into the Cricket World Cup for the deaf in 2005. A year later in 2006, he got selected to play the lead role in Snehanjali. He had to lip-sync dialogues and songs, which he did with perfection.

His first exhibition of the career had left everyone in awe. He received applause for his performance despite being vocally impaired. His determination led to his success. For his debut performance in Snehanjali, the movie got a place in The Limca Book of Records and the Guinness Book of Records. For the first time, a film had featured a speech impaired actor in a leading role.

Dhruv became a celebrity in South-India. He also participated in the Celebrity Cricket League Celebrities like actors Playing Cricket is known a >> Read More... (CCL) for six straight seasons. He used to play for the Karnataka Bulldozers. Dhruv did a couple of other films including Bangalore 560023 and Tippajji Circle before joining his father in family business. He spent time with his family and two daughters.

After Dhruv’s death, his family members thought that he had consumed poison as a result of depression and loss suffered at business. On 1st August 2017, he took his last breath at the Colombia Asia Hospital in Bangalore. All of the film industry was saddened at the news of his demise and posted condolence messages on social media.
