Manigandaraja Muthusamy is a South Indian film editor, digital intermediate artist and cinematographer who works in the Sandalwood film industry and Tamil short films. He was born on 5th October 1987 in Bhavani in Tamil Nadu. Manigandaraja is the son of Manimekalai Thangavel. He is the brother of Naveen Muthusamy. He attended high school at the Reliance Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Komarapayalam in Tamil Nadu.
He attended college at the Institute of Road and Transport Technology in Erode in Tamil Nadu from where he graduated with a B. E. in Computer Science and Engineering. He also attended the Flash Frame Visuals Academy of Film & Television in Bangalore from where he learned video editing on Final Cut Pro. He learned how to operate the Autodesk Smoke software at the Zee Institute of Media Arts.
He worked as a graphic designer at the Surabhi Talkies between 2010 and 2011. He worked at the Anibros Studios as a video editor between 2011 and 2012. He then joined the Color Cube Studios where he works as an editor, digital intermediate and cinematographer till present. One of Manigandaraja’s earliest projects was the animated trailer for the Kannada film Sandalwood Sa Ri Ga Ma directed by Sharad Khadri, while working for Surabhi Talkies in 2012. Manigandaraja directed, edited, cinematographed and wrote the screenplay for his first short film Naa Appavea Sonna Manigandaraja. He uploaded the short movie on his Youtube channel on 29th September 2011. He edited the short film Irukku in 2013. Manigandaraja edited and color graded the music video Ruftha Ruftha composed by Martyn-Jeff. The Hindi song went online on Youtube on 14th February 2016. Manigandaraja was the editor of the Kannada movie Mareyalaare directed by Sharath Khadri. The romance flick hit the cinema halls on 26th February 2016. He also edited, graded and cinematographed the psychological thriller flick Gili. Manigandaraja was the editor and DI artist of the short film Proud To Be An Indian written and directed by V M Naveen. The special video went online on Youtube on 15th August 2014 for the occasion of the 67th Indian Independence Day. The Youtube video received more than a hundred thousand views.
