Wesley Brown

Wesley Michael Brown (commonly referred to as Wes Brown) is a British professional footballer who used to play as a center-back for the Manchester United side led by Sir Alex Ferguson. He made 232 appearances for the red devils in all competitions, scoring 3 goals. Born on 13th October 1979 in Longsight, Manchester, England, Wesley started playing football professionally for the Burnage High School at an early age. His first club as the Greater Manchester Youth Side – Fletcher Moss Rangers. On 4th November 1996, he signed a professional contract with Manchester United at the age of 17.

During the course of his football career, Brown has won several trophies like FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League, Premier League, etc. In fact, he was a part of the United squad that went on to win the treble in the 1998-99 season under Sir Alex. The two-time Champions League winner Brown is currently married to Leanne Wassell and has three daughters named Halle, Lilla, and Lola. His younger brother Reece is also a professional footballer. The year 1999 was a crucial one for Brown as he made his International debut for England.

After a run of successful international performances, he made it to the squad which represented England in the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Sir Alex one claimed – “Brown is without question the best natural defender this club has had for years.” On 7th July 2011, Brown was allowed to join the Premier League side Sunderland after making 232 appearances for United. A few months later, he scored an own goal playing for Sunderland against United. After spending most of the time in 2016 with the English Championship side Blackburn Rovers, Brown joined the Indian Super League side Kerala Blasters FC, where he got a chance to play with his former United coach Rene Menulensteen again.
