Hari Santosh

Hari Santosh, a.k.a. Santhu, is a renowned Indian director of the Sandalwood film industry. He made his directorial debut with the Kannada romantic action-drama “Alemari” (2012), starring Yogesh. The movie, due to being based on the same old theme of a love story interrupted by a gangster, grossed fairly at the box office. However, it went down in the critics’ good books in terms of its direction and music. It was nominated for three honors at the 2013 Filmfare Awards: best director, music director (Arjun Janya), and supporting actress (Umashree). It built a solid foundation for Santhu’s future in the showbiz. In his second venture, Santhu tried his hand at horror blended with comedy to create “Darling” (2015). A derivative of the Telugu film “Prema Katha Chitram” (2013), it marked the return of producer, Allu Aravind, to Tamil films after twenty-five years. The success of the film led Santhu to take up more humorous projects. In 2017, he released the rom-com “College Kumara,” produced by Padmanabhan. It narrates the story of Kumar (played by Vikky Varun) who rebels against his hard-working peon father, Shivakumar (played by P. Ravishankar), after Shivakumar’s expectations from him become too much for him to bear. The film was critically acclaimed and is being remade into Tamil and Telugu versions. Santhu also directed “Victory 2” (2018), the sequel to Nanda Kishore’s hilarious comedy “Victory” (2013). It retained the entire lead cast from the first installment of the series but did not resound as well as its prequel. Santhu’s other contributions include “Dove” (2015), “Humble Politician Nograj” (2018), and “Londonalli Lambodhara” (2019). He is currently filming for his upcoming project “Bichchugatti,” a historical war film, set to hit the theatres in the winter of 2019. After that Santhu will most likely make his debut in Tollywood in his second unnamed project with Padmanabhan.
