Abhaya Simha is a profound director who debuted through the movie, "Gubbachchigalu" a Kannada film which won him a national award for best children’s film in 2008. Abhaya Simha was born on 12th June 1981 in Mangalore, Karnataka. He completed his graduation from St Aloysius College, Mangalore. He received a degree in Kannada and English literature and also completed a journalism course before learning to make films. After this education in Mangalore, he went to Pune and joined P.G diploma in film direction in FTII, Puna (Film and Television Institute of India). After completing his learning and skill development, he started making documentary films and music videos and got involved in the film industry.

Belonging to a family of artists was the reason why he got interested towards cinema and ever since his graduation he started grabbing chances to direct films in Kannada film industry. He did a bilingual movie after the success of Gubbachchigalu in 2008 named shikari which was released in 2012.

After that, he did his third film named Sakkare starring actor Ganesh in Karnataka which was released in 2013. His movie Gubbachchigalu is the best of all his movies and got him a golden lotus national award, the best family feature film in New York Independent Film Festival and eight official nominations in film festivals. Apart from films, he has done two music videos and six fiction short films out of which, several of them were screened in international film festivals.

He represented Indian filmmakers in international film festival held in Berlin 2009. “One Fine day” was his first fiction short film. Watch out and Sea Side Story are the fiction short films which were screened in international film festivals. He is still in the same field, but is working with more passion and dedication.

Abhaya Simha is an Indian Film Industry director who directed mainly Kannada films. He is also a screenwriter. Abhaya was born on 12th June 1981. He was the grandson of G.T Narayana, who is a famous science writer in Kannada, music critic, cultural organizer. Abhaya was raised by his family in Mangalore, Karnataka, India. He did his graduation from ST. Aloysius College, Mangalore, where he studied English Literature and Journalism. And later, he did the film studies from Film and Television Institute of India (FIII), Pune.

He started his career in films in Bangalore 2007. His debut film was Gubbachchigalu. The movie won a National Award for the Best Children’s Film for the year 2008. His second venture was a Bilingual movie named Shikari. The movie was released in March 2012, in Karnataka and Kerala. Later, he directed his third movie Sakkare in Kannada, in the movie he starred the actor Ganesh.
