Preetha Jayaraman is an Indian cinematographer and the niece of P.C. Sreeram, a notable cinematographer. Jayaraman was heavily influenced by her uncle's field work. She went on to pursue her dreams at a very young age just after her schooling. She has worked on TV commercials, music videos, short films, documentaries, and feature films. Preetha was inspired by her uncle, P.C. Sreeram, and the film Nayagan (1987), and after completing her education, she enrolled at FTI, Chennai in 1993. She went on to work with P.C. Sreeram for five years before enrolling at Bond University in Australia to get her Masters in Film and Television (2000-01).

She interned at Warner Brothers during the filming of "Scooby Doo" (2002). She returned to India the following year and shot her first feature “Knock knock, I am looking to Mary” on 2003. Kailash Kher's renowned video song "Teri Deewani" (2007) was offered to her to shoot. "AbhiyumNaanum," her film from 2008, is still one of her favourites. She has also shot some short films, including “VerukkuNeer” (2005) and “Asli Azaadi” (1999). She has won the “Galatta Wonder Woman” award for Inspiring Pathbreaker in cinematography in 2019. She also won the “Karnataka Woman Achiever’s Award” for Excellence in Film, in the same year. Preetha has not disclosed any of her personal information but through her Instagram account, it can be seen that she has a daughter, who is 11 years old as of 2021. Details about her husband is not known yet.
