Madan and Harini is a duo of Indian choreographers who have worked in Kannada and Tulu films. The pair has choreographed for almost 200 films and hence they are among the best choreographers in Kannada cinema. Years ago, without any money they shifted to Bangalore in search of work from Puttur in Dakshina Kannada, which is their hometown. And they made it to the film industry. They learned classical dances of India from Guru Rajarathnam Pillai and during the dance classes, they fell in love and later got married. The duo got their first project from Aryamtha Pattabhi for the movie “Nadaswaroopi.”
Some amazing films choreographed by the couple include America America (1995), Hoomale (1998), Singaaravva (2003), Gaalipata (2008), Shikari (2012), Rickshaw Driver (2013), Srikanta (2017). The coordinated couple upgraded from classical to contemporary styles to remain relevant and not lag in their field. Although traditionally a male-dominated domain, Harini paved the way for herself in the choreography industry by becoming “the only female choreographer” in the Kannada film sphere. Like parents, their daughter is also very talented. The eleven-year-old shaped a dance for the movie “Lovlavike” though she is too young for this year and her parents also want her to focus on academics first.
