Sumeet Tappoo was born in Fiji Islands. He holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Technology Sydney. Because of his passion towards music, he moved to Mumbai to become a playback singer. Sumeet performed in stages at the age of eight and released his album when he was eleven. With his success in the Bollywood industry as an independent pop artist, Sumeet started performing in concerts.

At present, Sumeet has performed more than 450 concerts in different countries like India, USA, UK, Canada, South Africa, Mauritius, etc. He has also performed with his mentor Anup Jalota in Indian and International concerts and has also made solo performances in various musical festivals. Sumeet Tappoo is an Indian-origin singer who has sung many devotional songs and bhajans. Many don’t know that Sumeet was born in Fiji Islands. In fact, there is a sizeable Indian population living in the region. In an interview, he said that he attended Anup Jalota’s concerts with his family when he was four years old. In fact, the people of Hindu community turned up in huge numbers whenever a devotional singer came to Fiji. As Sumeet went to these shows, he developed a passion for music.

Sumeet also admitted that his father was a big fan of Mukesh’s songs. Sumeet went to these shows until he met Anup Jalota in person. He conveyed his desire to Anup about learning music. After listening to Sumeet’s recordings, Anup agreed to take him under his guidance. Later, Sumeet moved to Australia to pursue his higher education. He took admission at the University of Technology in Sydney (UTS), where he completed his graduation in Bachelor in Business (Management and Marketing) followed by the Master’s degree in the same.

In 2004, Sumeet chose to concentrate on his musical career and shifted to Mumbai for better opportunities. He began performing on stage at the age of eight and released his first album (Sumeet Tappoo sings Mukesh). Sumeet believes that music is the universal language of every deity. As of now, he has organized more than 450 concerts, across the world. Sumeet’s notable album is his IndiPop album Meri Deewangi, released by Bollywood film production and distribution giant Eros International.

Meri Deewangi consists of eight romantic compositions plus the title track. For the title track Sumeet teamed up with UK-based Priest J, who has also worked with Rihanna in the past. Meri Deewangi impressed the melody lovers with its meaningful lyrics and soulful music.
