Amaal Malik (D.O.B- 16 June 1991) is a music composer and playback singer in Bollywood who hails from a family of highly talented musicians. He is the son of Daboo Malik- a well-known face in the music industry, grandson of Sardar Malik, the brother of singer Armaan Malik and the nephew of the famous music director Anu Malik.

Hailing from such a prolific musical family, Amaal’s interest in music blossomed at the tender age of eight. He got his first break in Salman Khan’s movie “ Jai Ho”. He is highly gratuitous towards Salman Khan for giving him that opportunity.

While learning music as a kid, Amaal developed an instant liking towards the piano. He did his schooling at Jamnabai Narsee School and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from N.M College, Mumbai. To pursue his interest in music he studied the piano at the prestigious Trinity College of Music (Western Classical, Jazz, and Rock).

He is also informally trained in Indian Classical Music under the able guidance of his grandfather Sardar Malik. Amaal started his music career at a very early age. At the age of 15, he assisted music composer and background scorer Amar Mohile for the soundtrack of Sarkar (2005) and Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007). Later he moved on to production and arrangement of music for his father’s films.

In Sohail Khan’s Kissan (2009), he even collaborated with pop singer Daler Mehndi on a remixed track of Mere Desh Ki Dharti. From the period 2008-2011, he assisted Bollywood music composer Pritam on several film albums and also produced background scores for Sandeep Chowta and Salim-Sulaiman.

His first experience as a background scorer was for the movie Khwaabb, a sports-based movie, which won him rave reviews. Amaal Malik as a composer has created a varied genre of songs, ranging from foot-tapping party songs like “Sooraj Dooba Hai” from the movie Roy to heart touching and soulful songs like “ Wajah Tum Ho” from the movie Hate Story 3.

He has constantly collaborated with his brother Armaan Malik for most of his songs. He has also composed singles under an exclusive contract with T-Series. Amaal Malik, like every budding artist, has his idols. In the Hindi film industry, he looks up to Pritam, R D Burman, and A R Rahman. Hans Zimmer is his inspiration when it comes to Hollywood.

He wishes to collaborate with foreign artists like Red One, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake and David Guetta and also work with Hans Zimmer on the background score of a film. Amaal Malik won the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director and the Guild Award for Best Music Director, both for the movie Roy in 2016. He is currently single and completely focused on his career.

His main focus is on creating songs that can connect with the world. As he stated in one of his interviews- “My music is very simple, and I would love to keep it that way. I'm not here to show what all I've learned. I'm here to make good songs that can connect with the world”. He surely is the next big thing in the Hindi music industry.

When he was of the age 15, he started arranging and producing music for his father in the films like Kisaan in the year 2009. He did the song Mere Desh Ki Dharti with the popular singer named Daler Mehndi. He also got the chance to assist Pritam on many albums in the year 2008 to 2011.

He also produced many background scores as well for the films like R.Rajkumar, Heroine, Saheb biwi gangster returns, Rowdy Rathore, Ab Tak Chappan 2, M.S Dhoni: The untold story, Phata Poster Nikla Hero, and did a splendid job.

He did the background score for the film Khwaabb alone and got a lot of positive reviews. He has composed music for many advertisements as well. He has worked with many popular directors like Prakash Verma, Prahlad Kakar, Kailash Surendranath, Vinod P Vijay, E Niwas, Hemnath Bhandari and much more.

Asha Puthli is an actress, producer, singer and songwriter of Indian origin. She was born and brought up in Bombay city of Maharashtra in India. She sings songs of the variety of genres but the most widely recognized one is jazz. She has delivered vocals in the jazz album of Ornette Coleman, Science Fiction.
