He was born as Israr Sardaar Malik on 21st January in the year 1963 in the city of Mumbai in Maharashtra.

After completing his higher secondary education, Daboo graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Narsee Monjee College situated in the city of Mumbai. Belonging to a family with such musicians, Daboo was naturally inclined towards starting his career in music.

He started off by assisting his brother, Anu Malik with his projects. He was initially into acting and did small roles in movies and television serials. He appeared in B. R. Chopra’s ‘Mahabarat’, and in movies like ‘ Baazigar Click to look into! >> Read More... ’ and ‘Beta Ho Toh Aisa’.

In an interview in the year 2013, Malik confessed that he had pursued acting only for the fruits of stardom and that he was regretful of wasting his time not working on music. He ventured as a music composer in the year 2001 with his album titled, ‘Yeh Zindagi Ka Safar’ and later went on to compose music for various films.

He worked as the music composer for ‘Maine Tujhko Dil Diya’ written and directed by Sohail Khan Sohail Khan is an Indian Film Actor. He composed the song, ‘Thoda Sa Pyar Hua Hai’ for that film in the year 2002 followed by the film ‘Hum Tumhare Hai Sanam’ and ‘Tumko Na Bhul Payenge Hum’ in the same year.

Daboo Malik got married to Jyoti Malik and had two children named Armaan and Amaal Malik, both active in the music industry continuing the family lineage.
