Rinke is an Indian-born Bollywood actress, who was born on July 27, 1977, to
Dimple Kapadia and
Rajesh Khanna. She is the sister of
Twinkle Khanna, sister-in-law of
Akshay Kumar, and niece of
Simple Kapadia. She was born in Mumbai. She got her first break with “Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi” in 1999. She also won the Best Actress Debut in the Female segment for “Pyaar mein Kabhi Kabhi.”
In 2000, she was seen in a role of Tina in “Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai.” In 2001, she was seen in “Mujhe Kuch Kehna hai” in a supporting role. Till date, this movie is one of the biggest hits which the actress has been a part of. Later in the year, she was also seen in a Tamil movie “Majunu” a romantic thriller. Rinke got an opportunity to work alongside Prashanth and Raghuraghavan in Majnu.
Rati Agnihotri, and Vivek were seen in important roles. The movie was directed by Ravichandran. The movie was a hit at the box office, and Rinke’s role was appreciated by many. In 2002, Rinke was seen in Hindi movies like “
Yeh Hai Jalwa” and “Mango Souffle.” In “Yeh Hai Jalwa” she was seen as Rati Agnihotri’s daughter. The character was even named “Rinkie”. The movie was a Hindi comedy, directed by
David Dhawan. Other than Rinke, the movie also starred
Salman Khan, Amisha Patel as lead actors, and
Rishi Kapoor, Rati Agnihotri,
Sanjay Dutt in supporting roles. In the same year, she also starred in “Mango Souffle” as Kiran. Mango Souffle was termed as probably the first Indian gay movie, which described a gay relationship explicitly. The movie was written as well as directed by Mahesh Dattani.
Later in 2003, Rinke was seen in three films, “Pran Jaye Par Shaan na Jaye” “Jhankaar Beats” and the critically acclaimed “
Chameli.” Both, “Jhankaar Beats” and “Chameli” fared well at the box office and were critically acclaimed movies. Rinke married a businessman Sameer Saran in 2003, and they lead a happy life.
