Rati Agnihotri is an Indian movie actress who has acted in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi films. She was the discovery of Tamil director Bharathiraja.Hewas searching for a new face for his upcoming film Puthiya Vaarpugal (1979). The director met her father and promised the film would get completed in a month. Rathi was sixteen years old, and thus she made her break in film.

The film revolved around a village girl, and boy and the soulful music by Ilaiyaraaja made the film a chartbuster in the box office. Rathi’s effervescent look in the movie helped her to get more offers in Kollywood, and she became busy in the south. Bharathiraja offered her again another film 'Niram Maaratha Pookkal' and the film was against successful in the box-office. In just three years, she acted in 32 films, and she became star sensation in Kollywood. She also acted in Kannada and Telugu languages. In her career, she acted with superstars of South Indian cinema.

In 1981, she got an opportunity to make her debut In Hindi cinema opposite Kamal Hassan in K Balachander’s Hindi film ‘ Ek Duuje Ke Liye’ (remake of Maro Chartithra). The film became super hit, and it was a launching pad for Rati to become an overnight star in Hindi movies. As Rati was a Punjabi, she signed more than a dozen Hindi films after Ek Duuje Ke Liye. She then acted in ‘Shaukeen’ opposite Mithun Chakraborty, which also had Ashok Kumar, A K Hangal and Utpal Dutt in pivotal roles. The film was a hit. She then acted in over 43 films in the Hindi language with all top stars.

Her performance in films like Mujhe Insaaf Chahiye (1983) and Mazdoor (1983) fetched her appreciation from critics and masses. She was also signed to play Amitabh Bachchan’s leading lady in Coolie. She married business person Anil Virwani on 9 February 1985; They have a son too. But after 30 years, the couple filed divorce and got separated in 2015. Now she is seen playing mother’s role in many Hindi blockbuster movies. Rati was born in Mumbai on December 10, 1960.

Rasika Dugal is an Indian actress, who predominantly works in the television industry. Yes, we are talking about your favorite, Zeenat in “Dariba Diaries” which airs on Epic Channel. Rasika was born on 17th January 1985, in Jamshedpur, and completed her schooling there. She went on to complete her Honors in Mathematics from Lady Shree Ram College, Delhi University. Later she did her Masters in Social Communications in Media, from the prestigious Sophia College, Mumbai. It was in Mumbai that she wanted to try her luck in acting. When she started getting offers, she also did a course in acting from FTII. It was a postgraduate diploma course. Rasika got her first break in 2008, in a movie called “Tahaan.”  The movie, as much as being a debut for Rasika, was a film that has a soft corner in heart, as the story line was a very emotional one. The storyline is set in the backdrop of the life of a small boy and his donkey. The movie was shot amidst the beautiful sceneries of Jammu and Kashmir. In 2007, she had also appeared in a small character role in the film “Anwar.” In 2008, she was seen in Isha Deol and Shiny Ahuja starrer “Hijack” that was based on the real-life story of the hijack of IC 814. Rasika played the character of Neha. In 2008 itself she was again seen in the movie “Tahaan” where she played the character of Nadira. Since then, she has been getting offers to work in many Bollywood films, a couple of Indian-German drama movies, and some soap operas.  Rasika came to fame with her role as Chaya, in the movie “Kshay.” Kshay is a psychological drama, directed and written by Karan Gour. The movie had its special screening at Chicago International Film Festival, in 2011. It won several awards, one being the Jury Award at Indian Film Festival in Los Angeles. Another movie, for which Rasika’s performance was much appreciated, was “Qissa” which was directed and written by Anup Singh. The film is an Indo-German film, written in Punjabi. It is a story of a family torn during the 1947 partition. Rasika played the role of “Neeli.” The movie was specially screened at the World Cinema Section in the Toronto Film Festival, 2013 edition. Indian theaters screened the film in February 2015. The critics had appreciated the movie, as well as Rasika’s character and portrayal too. She currently is working in Dariba Diaries, as Zeenat.

Later, she got married to film distributor Anil Thadani in 2004, and the couple has two children, Meantime, she also acted in a TV serial Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, which veteran actress Meena Kumari did in Guru Dutt’s same movie based on Bimal Mitra’s novel.
