Mallika Sherawat is a glamorous Model turned bold Bollywood actress turned Hollywood actress, who has acted in regional movies and Hindi movies before moving to the USA where she spends most of her time now. She was born on October 24th, 1976, as Reema Lamba in a small town called Moth, which is in the district of Hisar, State of Haryana, India. She was an Air India Air Hostess during her early twenties and before she has started acting in movies. She is a Scorpio with a strong influence of Libra according to her star sign.

She is 169 cm (5’ 6.5”) tall. She was born in a philanthropically influential Jat family - Seth Chhaju Ram’s - being more famous than her in her native place. She took on the name Mallika (meaning The Empress) when she entered the movie field, since there were many similarly named actresses (as Reema). She also took her mother Santosh Sherawat’s maiden name, Sherawat, in great gratitude and respect, but only after many years her family reconciled with her, a traditional and orthodox family from deep Jat Land that was not much thrilled with her decision of entering the ShowBiz, at first or even after a long time.

Her two Hollywood movies to date are, the 2010 “ Hisss Click to look into! >> Read More... ” under Jennifer Chambers Lynch’s direction, and the 2011 “Politics of Love”, (another name in which it is referred to would be, “Love. Barack”), which was directed by William Dear. The movie “Hisss” was dubbed in many regional languages since then. She has also acted in an international film, a Chinese movie that was track-shifted to many other languages including English, “The Myth”, with Jackie Chan.

According to her, Jackie Chan has been so benevolent to her and has helped her a lot to become famous in the international arena, and also had her stay with his own happily married family and home at Hong Kong for a while. She has also appeared in the Cannes Film Festival to promote this 2005 movie, wearing 45 million dollars worth of jewelry that Russell Mehta’s ‘Orra Diamonds’ have sponsored, and has received worldwide accolades. She has once disclosed that right from her childhood she would ape all the leading Bollywood artists expertly, especially the Madhuri Dixit Madhuri Dixit is not just known as the also a smil >> Read More... dance number “Ek Dho Theen’, much to the chagrin of her traditional family.

She had her primary schooling near her native place, at Nirvana, before her father, an Engineer working for the Haryana Government, had the family moved to New Delhi. She went to attend Mathura Road’s Delhi Public School, as a teenager, amidst a very strict family environment. After DPS, she went to Delhi University’s Miranda House to pursue her Bachelor of Philosophy degree. She was offered Modeling opportunities when she was still studying, and she had made good use of them. According to her, she ran away to Mumbai in 2002 to realize her dreams, as she just could not live under her over-strict father. Her mother and her younger brother Vikram loved her so much but her mother could not do anything against her father’s wish as she was from a very orthodox and traditional family, and in her own words, ‘was still wearing a ghunghat’.

Mallika Sherawat has stated that, even now, only her brother Vikram has been encouraging her, and be with her in times of need, and helping her like a father would. At Mumbai, she had landed a job with Air India as Air Hostess, her beauty and structure and intelligence helping her a lot, and then her modeling career also bloomed. She was getting opportunities for TV commercials also, and her TV commercials would include Superstars Shah Rukh Khan (in the Santro Ad) and Amitabh Bachchan (in the BPL Ad). And finally, in 2002, a movie chance had landed on her lap, in the name, “Jeena Sirf Merre Liye”.
