Born and brought up in Mumbai, this film and TV actress was born to Madhavrao and Rajya Lakshmi Patwardhan. The much appreciated “Maine Pyar Kiya” fame Bhagyashree Patwardhan comes from the royal Marathi family of Maharashtra. Moreover, her father Vijay Singhrao Madhavrao Patwardhan reigns as the “King of Sangli”. Though, known prominently for her role in the Hindi Blockbuster “Maine Pyar Kiya” opposite Salman Khan, she also tried her luck with films like “Humko Deewana Kar Gaye” (2006) in a paltry role which was not much noticed by the audience. “
Janani” (2006) was also one of the failed attempts of Bhagyashree, and “
Red Alert” (2009) too saw her in a trivial role. These films did no justice to her, and she failed to make a mark. She was the winner of the “Lux New Face of India Film fare Award” for her outstanding performance in the film Maine Pyar Kiya. Despite being born in a typical conservative Marathi-speaking family, she was taught Shlokas in Sanskrit by her father in her childhood.
Acting knocked her door when she was offered a role in a Hindi TV Serial “Kachchi Dhoop” by the former wife of the film maker, Amol Palekar. Accepting the role paved the way to her career, and she managed to bag roles in more serials. It was only 1989 hit Maine Pyar Kiya that got this innocent beauty into the limelight. Along with Hindi Films, she also did some Bangladeshi, Kannada and Telugu films even though they never had much of an impact on her career.
Shortly, after the release of her debut film in Bollywood, this sizzling beauty got hitched to her boyfriend, Himalay Dassani. Still not putting an end to her career, she acted with her husband in some films too but they failed at the
Box Office. Later, she was blessed with two children Avantika and Abhimanyu and kept herself busy with her domestic life. She was also seen in “Jhalak Dikhla Jaa Season 3” and mesmerized the audience with her dancing skills. “Laut Aao Trisha” was her last stint on Television. She is also the promoter of a media company named “Srishty Entertainment”.
