Rajat Rawail

Whenever we see the above personality, we remember the name Tsunami, which is a very popular character in the Salman Khan Starrer ‘Bodyguard.' The real name of Tsunami is Rajat Rawail, a famous producer in the Bollywood who has given great hits to the industry with the movies like ‘Ready,’ ‘Rowdy Rathore,’ etc. He had also directed quite a few films. All in all, he is a producer, actor, and director in the Bollywood.

He was born on 9 th June 1972 and is the nephew of one of the Bollywood’s best directors Rahul Rawail, who had directed the films like ‘Love Story,’ ‘Betaab,’ etc. He was brought up in Mumbai and had pursued his education from the Maneckji Cooper School, Juhu, Mumbai. He is sharing the rest of his life with Bhawna Dhowan Rawail, and the cute couple has a daughter named Gehna Rawail, who is nine years old. He had started his career as an assistant director to Ramesh Sippy and slowly emanated as a director.

His first film in which he had worked as an assistant director was ‘Bhrashtachar’ in 1989 and then continued to do the same in the other films like ‘Akayla’ in 1991 and ‘Zamaana Deewana’ in 1995. After working hard as an assistant director and gaining experience he had directed his first film ‘Zameer: The Awakening of the Soul’ starting Sanjay Kapoor and Shilpa Shetty in the year 1997 and after a few years he directed another film named ‘Dil Ne Phir Yaad Kiya’ in the year 2001.

Later on, he decided to work as a producer and so did the same and had produced several of the Bollywood’s hits like ‘Ready’ and ‘Anjaam.' His other films ‘No problem’ starring Akshay Khanna, Sunil Shetty, Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Sushmita Sen and Kangana Ranaut and directed by Anees Bazmee and ‘Run’ starring Abhishek Bachchan and Bhumika Chawla and directed by Jeeva have failed to attract the Bollywood lovers. He was also the co-producer for the films like ‘Rowdy Rathore’ and ‘Ready’ starring the Bollywood’s two eminent personalities Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. He is believed to be a great friend of Salman Khan and has worked in movies with him involving a large integer business.

He had debuted as an actor in the film ‘Bodyguard’ starring Salman Khan in 2011 and was given a nickname Tsunami, which was the same as his name in that movie. Later he had also acted in ‘Policegiri’ in 2013 starting Sanjay Dutt couldn’t add much flavor to his career as it had passed the box office unnoticed. Apart from the above he had also acted in the films like ‘Second Marriage Dot Com,’ ‘Gali Gali Chor Hai,’ etc. He debuted as an actor in the comedy TV serial ‘Hum Paanch’ in the year 1995 which received an award for the best comedy serial.

He was also the contestant for the 7th season of the TV show, Big Boss, who came with a goal to make everyone laugh and earn a good physique but couldn’t accomplish it and was eliminated in the second round. He said that he was happy to get eliminated as he was missing his wife and daughter and also that he was the only married person on the show. He also said that he had some acidic attack and hence wasn’t feeling well. He is currently acting in the upcoming romantic comedy film ‘Desi Magic’ directed by Mehul Atha and is expected to hit the box office very soon.
