Kiran Uttam Ghosh

Kiran Uttam Ghosh belongs to Kolkata, India, where she was studying at St Xavier’s College. To pursue her interest in fashion, she studied at Sophia Polytechnic, Mumbai. After completing her studies, she went to London and worked and trained under well-known British fashion designer Jasper Conran. After coming back to India, she launched her own brand Kimono. She sells elegant couture and even sells accessories. Her brand is found in 22 stores across India and in eight countries all over the globe. These include Ogaan, New Delhi and Kolkata, Melange, Ensemble and Crossroad in Mumbai, Aza Fashions, 85Landsdowne, Elan, Zenon in Kolkata, Mohr, and Folio. She has done many shows, and her designs appear in many magazines. She knows that sales abroad aren’t that big as designers make them be, and it's the domestic clients that are larger in number. She excels in embroidery and believes it to be her area of specialization. She gives this credit to Kolkata.

She designs pleats, textures, hues, colors, techniques, shapes, and silhouettes and goes beyond designs specifically into one category. Her clothes are so versatile, and they cannot be said to be definitely Eastern or Western. She is an associate member of the Fashion Development Council of India. She advises professionals to focus on sizing, finishing, and production schedules to deliver viably because they are clothes and not costumes. Her work has been featured in Bridal Asia Magazine, Architectural Digest India, Elle India, Brides Today India, Vogue India, and Bazaar. Her fashion shows include Lakme fashion week, The Oberoi, Amazon India fashion week, and Midsummer Trunk show Calcutta. She also showcased her collection at the Rome Couture Week, with brands like Versace, Valentino, and Renata closely watching her designs. She was the only Indian designer invited for the show and had only 5 weeks for preparation, yet she walked away with lots of appreciation and recognition.
