Suneet Varma is a fashion designer in India who has an association with huge brands such as BMW, Armani Junior, Swarovski, Judith Leiber and Azva by World Gold Council. Brought up in New Delhi, he pursued his higher education in London, first in sculpting and then in costume history. He has two siblings: Geetika Varma, his sister, and Vineet Varma, his brother.
Suneet’s career began in the year 1986 in Paris where he interned with Yves Saint Laurent. After that, he worked in Ahmedabad, on a denim project, with the Lalbhai group. He had his first fashion show in the year 1991 and since then has used unique ideas in all his creations. The collection of 2010 had Antonio's Tales from the Thousand & One Nights as its central inspiration and was called "The Pirates of Couture", His July 2011 show had Kamasutra as its central theme. 2014’s shows gained inspiration from The Flapper Girl and The Princess of Shekhawati.
When it comes to association with brands, Suneet has a very impressive record. He is Judith Leiber’s only international designer. The ‘who’s who’ in both Hollywood and Bollywood carry his bags. He was one of the designers of the interiors of the BMW 7 series and was the first Indian to do so. His association with BMW exists since 2007, and he has gone on a 15 city tour with them to get inspired for new design ideas. He introduced Armani Junior in India by opening a label at Delhi’s’ DLF Emporio mall. Suneet broke world records by making the longest embroidered sari for Vogue and earned a place in the Limca Book of Records. This sari measured a whopping 55 meters.
