Ravi Udyawar

Ravi Udyawar is an artist, illustrator, ad filmmaker and, a director. Ravi studied in the JJ school of arts, Mumbai and he was a gold medallist in arts. He was initially a painter and an illustrator. In the beginning, he was working for ad agencies overlooking art direction and visualization. He then went on to work for MTV and Channel V as a graphic and designer and eventually started making advertisement films. He also labored as a graphic designer for Trikaya Grey Advertising.

He was working as a director and producer for MTV as well. His first acclaimed project was the video of the song Dooba Dooba from the band The Silk Route’s album Boondein (1998). The video was loved everywhere as it was the first underwater video in India and at 25 Ravi got his first shot on fame. This video received the best music video of the year award, and then he established his own production house and named it RU films.

Since then he has directed various commercials and music videos for known brands and artists. He has worked with artists and celebrities in his career. He is the director behind the commercials of many brands like Chevrolet (Automobiles), Airtel (telecom service provider), Fa (deodorants), Hero (motorbikes), Killer (apparel and shoes), TATA and many more.

One of the exceptional advertisements that he has directed was for Uttar Pradesh Tourism. When Boney Kapoor a renowned producer from Bollywood saw that promotional ad, he called up Ravi Udyawar and appreciated his work and asked him to work with him as well and this is how Ravi got his first big break in Bollywood with Mom (2017). He ended up directing a fully fledged blockbuster starring the great icon of Bollywood Sridevi. This movie was a milestone for the actress as it marked her 300th film.
