Kelly AuCoin was born on February 14, 1967, in Hillsboro, Oregon, a Portland suburb. He is an accomplished American actor who has starred in films, television shows, and plays. On Billions, he portrays "Dollar" Bill Stern, and on The Americans, he plays Pastor Tim. He has worked in various other American TV shows, such as Gary Stamper on House of Cards, and Hercules Mulligan on Turn: Washington's Spies. He often performs on Broadway and in locations around the country, including Manhattan Theatre Club, Signature Theatre, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and La Jolla Playhouse. He has appeared in films such as Steven Spielberg's The Post, Julie & Julia, and All That I Am, for which he won the SXSW Special Jury Award for Ensemble Acting.
Kelly AuCoin is the son of Les and Susan AuCoin. He grew up in Oregon and Washington, D.C., where his father was a United States Congressman from 1975 until 1993. His first television appearance was in one of his father's campaign advertisements, in which he washed the family car to demonstrate how inexpensive his father was in response to allegations that he was a tax-and-spend Democrat. AuCoin attended Georgetown Day School and went on to Oberlin College. AuCoin got minor roles in many soap operas after moving to New York, including Guiding Light and The City. Originally, AuCoin appeared in some episodes of The Sopranos and of Law & Order in 2000. In 2007, he played State Department officer Ellis Leach in The Kingdom, his first major film role. AuCoin played Octavius in a Broadway production of Julius Caesar with Denzel Washington in 2005. In the 1990s, AuCoin was associated with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's acting company. AuCoin and Carolyn Hill married each other, and the couple now lives in Brooklyn.
