Kristopher Nathan Humphries aka Kris Humphries is an international basketball player who became more famous after tying the knot with TV personality
Kim Kardashian. The glamour world and Sports have a close connection sometimes. Both provide high entertainment value, and when achievers from both these industries come together, it is considered to be an ultimate match.
The gorgeous Kim Kardashian lost her heart to the ace basketball player, Kris Humphries and that made the headlines internationally in 2010. Time Magazine included beautiful Kim Kardashian as one of the 100 most influential people and Vogue described her as ‘pop culture’ phenomenon.
Although Kim got engaged in 2000 first when she was just 19 years old with music producer Damon Thomas, Thomas filed for divorce in 2003. Even Kris Humphries’ marriage with Kim did not last long.
It is still a mystery what made Kris Humphries tie the knot with Kim and later get separated. Humphries was an NBA player, Kim was a sought-after TV personality, and both began dating since October 2010 and ultimately got engaged in May 2011.
These two stars from two different worlds tied the knot on August 20, 2011. A two-part TV show, showing the preparations and the ceremony itself aired on channel E! in early October 2011. Every media house termed the ceremony as a ‘media blitz’.
But to everyone’s surprise, the marriage ended after 72 days. Humphries filed his response to Kim's petition, going ahead with an annulment on the basis of fraud, also referred to as a decree of legal separation rather than Kim's requested divorce.
Media was surprised and even later blamed the couple for getting married as a publicity stunt for financial gain. Reports suggest that the wedding was done to popularize the Kardashian family's brand and their reality TV ventures on E! Entertainment. After a lengthy legal battle in courts, their divorce was final on June 3, 2013.
