The iconic British maestro is both a sound editor as well as a sound designer. His panache is evident from the fact that he has inhis kitty the prestigious Academy Award (Oscar) for Best sound editing for his work in Gravity, where he simulated the sounds found in space. A dedicated person, he spent numerous hours identifying and stimulating sounds for the movie. He is the owner and the driving force behind the Sound 24 studio based in Slough, United Kingdom. His Indian connection is through the movie " Slumdog Millionaire" whereby his untiring efforts presentedhim a nomination for the Best Sound Editing Award atthe 81st Academy awards. Even Indian Sound designer ResulPookutty in his autobiography titled "Sounding off", acknowledges the efforts made by Freemantle inthe movie.

The 40-year long career span of this legend has seen awards like BAFTA, AMPS, and many more (Apart from the academy award itself) showered upon him. For Gravity, he created the impact of sound and vacuum efficiently through an amalgamation of object based sound effects with the Dolby Atmos (spatial surround sound system). This display is taken as an act of pure genius and stuck the chords ofcinema-goers and critics alike. He had experimented with 5.1 and 7.1 mixes for lending justice to the movie's 3D visuals. He also has been the background force forthe ‘ Steve Jobs’ biopic and period film "Mansfield Park." Mark Mangini is an American Sound engineer and designer. The Academy award winning sound artist has contributed in over hundred Hollywood movies and got nominated for the Oscars for four times. He took birth in Boston, Massachusetts, the USA on 31st August 1956. Mark did sound design for films like Mad Max-Fury Road, Aladdin, Blade Runner 2049, etc. He became the sound artist behind the famous lion roar for the MGM lion mascot. Mark gives guest lecturers in different Art Colleges including Savannah College of Art, Academy of Motion Picture Arts, etc. He took birth in Boston, Massachusetts, the USA on 31st August 1956. He went to the Sudbury Regional High School. At 19, left college and moved to LA to build a career in films. He became a sound editor for a cartoon show at Hanna Barbera Studios; the company did work on Scooby-Doo which aired on Sundays. Later, after three years, Mark founded Weddington Productions Inc. The company became successful with time and now is part of Formosa Group. From being an apprentice to one of the biggest names in Sound mixing, Mark earned respect for his dedication. He started his career in 1976, and ten years later he got nominated for the Academy awards for the first time. Star Trek IV got him his debut nomination at Oscars. In 1992, he again got nominated for Aladdin at the Academy Awards. In 1997, he got named for The Fifth Element, but luck did not go his way. At the 88th Academy award in 2015, Mark got nominated for Mad Max-Fury Road and won the Oscars. Mark defeated the sound artists of the favorite, The Revenant, and went on to bag the Oscar Award.
