Gerardo Kalmar is a supervising sound designer & sound editor at La Cocina, and re-recording mixer 5.1 for film and television. Also, he is a Certified Instructor of Avid Pro Tools, member of the MPSE and Founding Partner of the ASA. He was born on October 12, 1995. Gerardo Kalmar’s place of birth is Buenos Aires, Argentina. His nationality is American. In 2000, he completed his studies in Sound Direction at the CERC. After that, he has been training professionals in Latin America and as a professor of the chair of Post-production II at the ENERC since 2002. Gerardo Kalmar’s mother discovered his fascination with sound at an early age. He creates audio for animations, television series, creative advertising, motion graphics, film, and any other projects, which required imaginative and emotive design. He managed all the areas of audio production, such as the audio direction, SFX, the sound design, Foley, location recording, and the final mix. In 1998, he started creating SFX for short films at the Cinema University.
From Apr 2000 to Dec 2003, Gerardo Kalmar worked as a sound editor & re-recording mixer at Symphony for almost four years. He worked for the documentary film such as “Sol de Noche,” directed by Pablo Milstein, “Nada Por Perder,” directed by Quique Agular, “+ BIEN,” directed by Eduardo Capilla, and music of Gustavo Cerati. He worked as a location sound mixer at Caracol Television for reality shows “The Best Match” and “The Farm.” He engaged as sound post producer coordinator for the reality show “Challenge 2005.” He worked as a sound editor at DSD sound studio for six years for the films such as “Casi Angeles.” “Un viaje por el cuerpo,” Sola con en silencio,” “Los nadies,” etc. Gerardo Kalmar has been working as sound editor, re-recording mixer, and location sound mixer since Jan 1999.
As a re-recording mixer, he worked for the numerous films, including The Movement, Felices los que lloran, Yo se lo que envenena, Disney’s Topa En Concierto, Underland, Retiro, Beyond the Walls, and many more. As a location sound mixer, he has worked for more than four hundred television commercials such as Flehner, Wasabi, Polka Producciones, 14 Al Wow, Cuatro Cabezas, Cinemagotika, and many more. Also, he has been working as supervising sound editor and sound designer at Audio Artists since Jan 2006. He worked for the documentary films like Time to love, Arribenos, Rockin, La carpa invisible, Danza Porka, Fortalezas, La Recta Final, Gurarani, etc.
