He is the son of Leon Roth, a University teacher & film producer, and Miriam “Mimi,” a studio executive, teacher, and radio writer. Eric Roth has five children, including filmmakers Geoffrey Roth & Alec Roth, and documentary filmmaker Vanessa Roth. He has six grandchildren. 

Eric Roth started his career as a writer in the film “To Catch a Pebble” in 1970. He is famous for writing scripts in a Disk-based Operating System (DOM) program without internet access. He earned the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for 1994’s American epic comedy-drama film, “ Forrest Gump Click to look into! >> Read More... .” He was nominated six times for the Academy Award in the category of Best Adapted Screenplay in numerous films, including Munich (2006), The Insider (2000), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2009), A Star Is Born (2019), and Dune (2022). Also, he earned the Best Picture nomination for producing the American biographical drama film, ‘Mank.” Eric Roth nominated for the British Academy Film Award for Best Adapted Screenplay in several movies, including Forrest Gump (1995), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2009), ), A Star Is Born (2019), and Dune (2022).

Eric Roth was nominated as Best Writer in the Critics Choice Movie Award for the 2008 American fantasy romantic drama film “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” He nominated for the Critics Choice Movie Award in the category of Best Adapted Screenplay for Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (2012) and A Star Is Born (2019). Eric Roth has been nominated four times for Golden Globe Awards for Best Screenplay- Motion Picture for Forrest Gump, The Insider, Munich, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Eric Roth was nominated for Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Drama Series for the American political thriller streaming television series, “House of Cards.”
