Sarah is famous for her comic roles and performances on TV. She acted the role of Assistant District Attorney General on the TV Series “How to Get Away with Murder,” her performance was highly appreciated as ADA Sinclair.

Burns has been named as one of the Most Funniest Actors in Hollywood by the Entertainment Weekly in 2009 because she has done improvisational comedy at Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York City. Sarah started her acting career with the TV Series Damage, she appeared in one of the episodes of the series and then she appeared in the series, Flight of the Conchords (2007) in a scene and later in Party Down (2010) and Ben and Kate (2012). Her first short film Cried Suicide, released in 2010 was screened at Tribeca Film Festival and the other short film, titled The Short Step, was released in 2012 and got screened in 2013 at Seattle International Film Festival.

The most prominent roles that she has played so far are Harper in Going the Distance (2010), Hailey in I Love You, Man, Anne in Slow Learners in 2015 and Janine Groff in Life As We Know It in 2010.
