Monica Raymund (July 26th, 1986) is the daughter of Steve Raymund, the board chairman and former CEO of Tech Data Corp., a Clearwater-based distributor of computer components and software, and Sonia (née Lara), a "community volunteer [and] co-founder of the Soulful Arts Dance Academy in St. Petersburg," who is from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Her father came from a Jewish family with roots in Germany and Eastern Europe. Edward C. Raymund, a philanthropist, and a businessman, was her grandpa.

Will, her younger brother, was a sound and lighting engineer and concert promoter who graduated from Berklee College of Music. In August of that year, he died. She was a member of the "Broadway Theatre Project in Tampa" and the "North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem" when she was in high school. Raymund attended Shorecrest Preparatory School in St. Petersburg, Florida, and the Juilliard School in New York City, graduating in 2004 and 2008, respectively. Raymund is said to have appeared in Richard Feldman's Cymbeline, Trizana Beverley's Animal Farm, and Richard Feldman's The Diviners at the Juilliard School.

Raymund also performed in the original productions of Manhattan Casino and Webb's City: The Musical, both produced by the LiveArts Peninsula Foundation in St. Petersburg, Florida. Raymund is a three-year graduate of Ann Reinking's Broadway Theatre Project, a prominent artist. In 2008, Raymund "worked on Boleros for the Disenchanted at the Huntington Theatre Company in Boston with playwright José Rivera." In April 2008 she appeared as a pat down prank call victim in the opening sequence of the NBC courtroom programme Law & Order: Special Victims Unit's season 9 episode 17 titled "Authority." She played Maria "Ria" Torres, a human lie detector which is a "natural," which means she has no formal training in detecting falsehoods or other people's emotions, in the Fox police drama Lie to Me from 2009 to 2011.

She was on crutches due to a knee injury, as a result, she was unable to perform well in the audition for this position. Raymund starred as Dana Lodge, an assistant state’s attorney, on CBS's courtroom drama The Good Wife from 2011 to 2012. Raymund joined the cast of the NBC drama Chicago Fire in 2012 as Gabriela Dawson Casey, the paramedic in command.

Raymund announced her departure from the series on May 15, 2018, after six seasons, and that she will not return for season 7.
