Minnie Driver is a singer and songwriter. She is also a renowned English actress. She was born as Amelia Fiona ‘Minnie’ Driver on January 31, 1970 in London, England to Gaynor Churchward and Charles Ronald Driver. Her parents was never married and got separated when she just six. She was sent in Bedales School, a co-educational boarding school located in Hampshire. Minnie was raised up in Barbados and studied at Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art.
She was debuted in television through the television advertisement of Tight Guard deodorant in year 1991. Her stage debut also happens in the same year and work as a jazz vocalist and guitarist at the same time to support her needs. She appeared in the British medical drama series, Casualty, BBC’s The House of Eliott, the comedy drama series, Lovejoy and the drama series, Peak Practice. The actress gained fame after playing the main lead role as Bernadette ‘Benny’ Hogan in the 1995 film, Circle of Friends. She has done a supporting role as Irina in the spy film, GoldenEye in 1995. She is also part of the legal drama film, Sleepers in 1996 and bagged the role of Debi Newberry in the comedy film, Grosse Pointe Blank in 2007. in the drama film, Good Will Hunting. She earned nominations at the Academy Awards and Screen Actors Guild Award.
In 1998, she was starred as Rosina da Silva/Mary Blackchurch in the period drama film, The Governess. She has done a recurring role as Lorraine Finster in the American sitcom, Will & Grace opposing Megan Mullaly’s character (Karen Walker). She also voiced the character of Jane in the animated musical film, Tarzan in 1999 and the character of Lady Eboshi in the film, Princess Mononoke.
She made a television comeback in March 2007 after bagging the role of Dahlia Malloy in the television series, The Riches from which she earned nominations at the Emmy Award for Best Actress in a Dramatic Scene and Golden Globe Award for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series. She acted in the 2010’s Moon Landing episode of the television sitcom, Modern Family. Later, she was starred as Frances in the TV serial, The Deep. Also in 2010, Minnie played the role of Abra Rice in the legal drama film, Conviction. She is also part of the Canadian comedy-drama film, Barney’s Version from which she earned the Best Supporting Actress Award at the Genie Awards in 2011.
