Marion Lorne was an American actress; she worked in films and television and mainly on stage. Marion started her acting career by doing plays. She has performed in numerous theatre plays in the US as well as in the UK. She also had her Theatre, the Whitehall, in London; the plays of the theatres were written by Walter C. Hackett, her husband.
Every other play of her production ran for more than 125 nights. Some of the Whitehall plays are ‘Captain Applejack’ (1931), ‘Take a Chance’ (1931), ‘Road House’ (1932) and a few more. She started her career in theatre plays with ‘Mrs. Temple’s Telegram’, which ran from 1st February 1905 to 27th March 1905. Further, she appeared in the plays like ‘Here Tonight’ (1908), ‘The Florist Shop’ (9th August 1909- September 1909), ‘It Pays to Advertise’ (1915-1916), ‘The Barton Mystery’ (1927) and many more; her last theatre performance was in the play ‘Dance me a Song’ as Grandmother in 1950. Lorne was seen last time in the comedy series, Bewitched. The role of Aunt Clara she played became widely acclaimed and also won her the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
