Marion Ross is an American Film and Television Actress. Marian Ross, changed her name later to ‘Marion’. She was born on 25th October 1928 in Watertown, Carver County, Southern Minnesota, US. Her parents were Ellen and Gordon Ross.After her schooling years, she moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. She took education in drama at the MacPhail Center for the Arts and did her schooling at the Southwest High School. She took her degree from Point Loma High School in San Diego. She then attended San Diego State University; there she was named the most outstanding Actress of the school. In 1951, she entered wedlock with Freemen Meskimen. They gave birth to two children Jim Marksmen and Ellen Plummer; Jim is an actor, and Ellen is writer and producer. In 1953, she made her debut in films by the appearing in the movie ‘Forever Female’. Further, she got roles in lead in the films like ‘The Glenn Miller Story’ (1954), ‘Sabrina’ (1954), ‘Lust for Life’ (1956) and a few more. In 1953, she also made her television debut appearing in the series ‘Life with Father’ playing the role of Irish maid.
She did versatile characters further as the daughter of Brother John in ‘Lone Ranger’, a teacher in ‘The Donna Reed Show’, a computer scientist in ‘Colossus: The Forbin Project’. Marion appeared in some other television series like ‘The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show’, ‘The Eleventh Hour’, ‘The Barbara Stanwyck Show’ and many others. In 1974, Marion Ross appeared in the series ‘ Happy Days Happy Days is a Telugu-language show on ETV Telegu >> Read More... ’ which gave her the popularity. She played the role of Marion Cunningham in the sitcom. She was also nominated twice for the Primetime Emmy Award. The series aired for eleven years till 1984 with eleven series on ABC. Ross played the lead role in the 1991 series ‘Brooklyn Bridge’; though the series lasted for only two series it won a Golden Globe Award and received a nomination for an Emmy Award.
In 1996, for her role in the film ‘The Evening Star’ she received the nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress; her role of housekeeper, Rosie Dunlop, was praised by the mass. In the mid-1990’s, Marion started to give voice overs; she gave voice-over in the animated series like ‘King of the Hill’ and ‘Square Pants’. In the year 2008 on 7th June, the Albert Lea Civic Theatre, Minnesota, named their theatre ‘Marion Ross Performing Arts Center’. She has also played a handful of guest appearances in the movies and TV series like ‘The Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries’, ‘Generator Rex’, ‘Two and a Half Men’ and a few more.
