Jean Sincere Zambello was an American actress along with being a television and theatre personality. Some of her most notable works included The Incredibles (2004) produced by Pixar, the 1987 romantic-comedy film, Roxanne and Pulse (1988). She was bitten by the acting bug at a young age and was enamoured by the world of theatre.She chose to study theatre in her youth and then quickly graduated to television, which was still at a nascent stage at that time. In 1941, she took her first steps into the acting world and made a debut in the Broadway production of Arsenic and Old Lace. Her first TV appearance was in 1949 on an episode of The Philco-Goodyear Television Playhouse.
Even at this point, Television was a fairly new medium of entertainment and very few households would own it. Subsequently in the year 1950, Sincere made the first of three consecutive appearances on a similar program,Lux Video Theatre. Alongside working in the film and television industry, she had also joined the United Service Organisations (USO), providing entertainment to the American troops during the second world war.
It was around sometime in 1949 that she married Charles Carmine Zambello. In 1956 she had a daughter, Francesca Zambello. She also has another child, art dealer Larry Zambello. After the birth of her children, Sincere took a hiatus from acting over three decades. She made a comeback in the mid-1980's and her numerous television appearances since her break included cameo parts in the American Sitcom,Facts Of Life which released in 1985.
In 1987, she had a small part in the romantic-comedy film, Roxanne, directed by Fred Schepisi. Decades later in 2004, Sincere provided the voice for the senior insurance customer, Mrs Hodgenson in the Pixar superhero comedy, The Incredibles, directed by Brad Bird.It remains one of her most notable works. She also made numerous guest appearances on TV shows like The Parkers(2003), Invasion(2005), Private Practice(2007), Mending Fences (2008-09). Sincere was cast in a repeating role as the Librarian in the American musical series, Glee. She made one last appearance as Gloria on the Nickelodeon series, iCarly in 2012. On April 3, 2013, Jean Sincere, aged 93, breathed her last at her California home in Los Angeles. She died due to natural causes and is survived by her two children, Francesca and Larry Zambello.
