Brenda Song

Brenda Song is an American actor, singer, film producer, spokesperson, and a model. She was born on March 27, 1998, in Carmichael, California to a Hmong father and a Thai mother, a schoolteacher and a house maker respectively. She has two siblings, Timmy, and Nathan. She initiated her career as a child fashion model in San Francisco. The she was seen in a Little Caesars commercial followed by a Barbie commercial. At the age of six, her mother shifted with her to Los Angeles to support her acting career. Two years later, her family also followed them. Brenda was and is very close to her family. It was due to her brothers that she took up Taekwondo and now holds a black belt in the same. In ninth grade, she was declared as the All- American Scholar. She earned a high school at 16 through home-schooling and later went on to acquire a major in psychology and minor in business from the University of California, Berkeley.

Her first film was the 1995 Requiem, and the seven-year-old Brenda was noted as a focused and confident actor right then. Next, she appeared in another short film called The White Fox. She also appeared in two episodes of the television program, ‘Thunder Alley’ followed by a regular role of Jenny in the children’s television series, ‘Fudge.’ Then came ‘Santa with Muscles’, her first theatrical film debut. Following a small role in ‘Leave it to Beaver’, she acted in the TV series, ‘100 Deeds for Eddie McDowd’. In 2002, she signed a contract with Disney after which she acted in the movie, ‘Get a Clue’ and the TV series ‘That’s so Raven’ and ‘One on One.’ Her role as Tia in the TV show ‘Phil of the Future’ and as Natasha in the movie ‘Stuck in the Suburbs’ was noted.

It’s said, it was her portrayal of London Tipton, a spoiled heiress, in the TV series ‘The Suite Life of Zack and Cody’ that made her a household name. She also was nominated for Asian Excellence Award for this role. Critics credited the success of the show to her character. In fact, the character of London Tipton is Disney Channel’s longest continuous female character. This widespread recognition earned Song her real breakthrough- her first role as a titular character in the Disney Movie, ‘Wendy Woo: The Homecoming Warrior’. The film was about an average everyday Chinese American whose life changes when she comes to know that she is, in fact, the incarnation of a powerful female warrior and it is only her who could save the world from an evil spirit. It also depicted the struggles of Wendy and her family to keep their culture alive. Being a Taekwondo practitioner herself, Song did most of the stunts herself. The film was a success, and Brenda Song received critical acclaim. Masses speculated that she was engaged to Trace Cyrus, but currently, it is reported that they have split. Brenda has a spotless public image and is in fact considered a role model for young adults and kids. She was the hostess of the annual charity show, A World of Change. She is one of the selected  celebrities who are away from the party scene. She said in an interview that she has never drunk or smoked in her life, and she has talked in many platforms that kids shouldn’t indulge in any such activities. She was the spokesperson for Disney’s environmental campaign, ‘Disney’s Friends for Change’. Known as the ‘Queen of Disney’ she was also the celebrity endorser for the Disney’s Cruise Line.
