Ashleigh Rains

Ashleigh Rains is a Canadian and British actor, writer, producer. She is known for her role in My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2. Ashleigh graduated with a BA honors degree in Drama from Queen’s University, Canada. She also trained eight years at National Ballet School, Canada. She is married to Erik Arnesen. He is a musician and guitarist. In 2006, Ashleigh appeared in Save the Last Dance 2. This drama/romance/dance movie was directed by David Petrarca. She was a ballet dancer in this movie. In 2007, she appeared in a movie called Catacombs. It was a thriller/horror movie, and she played the role of Sofi. The movie was written and directed by David Elliot and Tomm Coker.

In the same year, she did a short video called Batch 508. She portrayed the role of Jacqueline Surrey. It was written as well as directed by Matthew Parkinson. In 2008, she was cast in a TV movie called Roxy Hunter and the Myth of the Mermaid. She portrayed Annie in the movie. Eleanor Lindo directed the movie. She appeared in an episode of TV series documentary Air Emergency in 2008. She played Flight Attendant Cathy Lemoine. In 2009, she did a short movie called A Bit of Rope in which she played the role of Sophie. She was the lead along with Megan Vincent and Michael Lenic. Michael Lenic was also the writer-director of this 16-minute long video.

In Murdoch Mysteries TV series, she appeared in an episode as Estelle Malling in 2010. In 2010, she was cast for one episode of Warehouse 13 TV series. She played Megan for an episode. In 2011, she appeared in three episodes of Flashpoint TV series. She played Shelley Wordsworth in the TV series. In 2011, she appeared in another TV series called Dan for Mayor for an episode as Butter Wench. In 2013, she was cast as Paulette Cooper in an episode of documentary TV series, Dangerous Persuasions. Her other works include Bitten (2014 TV series, as Christie for one episode), Designated Survivor (2016 TV series, as Mindy Hesser’s Daughter for one episode), and The Handmaid’s Tale (2017 TV series, as Wife #1 for an episode).

She also did a movie called The Last Supper Click to look into! >> Read More... in 2014. It was a short film in which she played the role of Hannah. In 2015, she was cast as the Girlfriend in A Sunday Kind of Love. She was also cast in the famous 2016 movie, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2. She played the role of the Wedding Planner in the movie. Along with acting, Ashleigh has also produced three movies and written a script. She was the producer of II; a short film in 2012, Flung and Tomorrow’s Shadows. She was also the writer of II.

Along with producing and writing the story of II, she also performed in the short film as the Bride. She was also the Production Manager of A Sunday Kind of Love and The Proposal. Ashleigh has won three awards including Best of Showcase for Tomorrow’s Shadows at the 2017 Women in Film & Television, CA. She also won the Best Original Drama Short Film and Original Dramatic Short for Tomorrow’s Shadows with Geordie Sabbagh at the WorldFest Houston 2016. She was nominated for Best Short Film II along with Kristen Somborac and Annie Bradley in 2012 Toronto Female Eye Film Festival.
