Alexis Bledel

Born and brought up in Houston (Texas), Bledel’s full name is Kimberly Alexis Bledel. She was born on 16 September 1981 to a Mexican mother and an Argentinian father. So she grew up in a Spanish-speaking household and learned to speak English only in school.

She completed her schooling from St. Agnes Academy in Houston and other Baptist and Lutheran schools. Her mother attempted to have her shy daughter break out from her shell by making her join acting classes.

She then played a few roles in local productions such as in the ‘The Wizard of Oz’. One fine day, Bledel was shopping at a local mall, and a casting agent had a good glance at her only to offer her a gig as a model when she was only 14.

She went on to pursue acting and modeling at Page Parkes Centre after which she completed another year at the Tisch School of the Arts (New York University). The year 2000 marked Bledel’s television debut as Rory Gilmore of ‘Gilmore Girls’.

This drama cum comedy series ruled the television screens for seven years and brought great fame to her. ‘Gilmore Girls’ alone won her the Young Artist Award (2001), Family Television Award (2002) and the Teen Choice Award twice (2005 and 2006).

Her Hollywood debut was in 2002 in ‘Tuck Everlasting’, a Walt Disney Walt Disney or Walter Elias Disney was an American >> Read More... production for which she was nominated for the Saturn Award in the category of ‘Best Performance by a Young Actor’. Apart from these, her performances in ‘The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’ and ‘Sin City’ also got her nominated for the Teen Choice Awards and the Broadcast Film Critics Association Awards respectively.

As far as Bledel’s personal life is concerned, she began dating her ‘Mad Men’ co-star Vincent Paul Kartheiser in 2012 and tied the knot with him in 2014. She has a very good interest in reading, writing as well as photography.

Opposite to leading a celebrity and starry life, she is a homely girl preferring family time and going to the movies. Her amazing looks and personality have won her many hearts and recognition.

She was voted among the ’25 Hottest Stars Under 25’ by Teen People in 2002, very early in her career. In 2005 she stood at the 87th rank in the Maxim Hot 100 Women’s list and finally in 2010, she was featured in the ’25 Most Stylish New Yorkers’ by a US magazine.
