Jeffrey Ho is a Chinese actor who works almost exclusively in British theatre. He is known for his comic timing as well as his ability to imbibe himself into a role while also playing his part in a casual manner.
Jeffrey Ho did his dramatic training from two institutes: he attended the London School of Dramatic Arts (LSDA) from 2009 to 2011 and was also part of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) from 2014 to 2015 where he attained an MA in Theatre Lab. During his time at RADA, he worked on some productions. This included working with many directors in m any different types of plays, all of which he did well in.
His work at RADA includes but isn’t limited to the following: The Ecstasy and the Ecstasy which was directed by ‘Jon Stancato’, Old Ekdal in The Wild Duck that was directed by ‘Robert Fried’, “The Man With The Bandage” that was done by ‘Andrew Visnevski’ and ‘Guillaume Pigé’, “Judge” that was brought to life by ‘Peta Lily’, Fury in the Eumenides that was headed by ‘Cara Nolan’, “Clown in the Winter’s Tale” that was directed by both ‘Daniela Peleanu Hardie’ & ‘Jüri Nael’ and Ensemble in Woyzeck made by ‘Izumi Ashizawa’.
Ho’s movie debut came in an unexpected source: Bollywood. He had a prominent role to play in the movie Queen, which starred Kangana Ranaut. The comedy drama film shows how a conservative girl from New Delhi goes for her pre-booked honeymoon tour on her own after her would-be husband calls off the wedding at the very last minute. Ho played the role of Taka, a Japanese man and one of three men that Rani (Ranaut’s character) had to share a hostel room with. She ends up getting very comfortable with them.
The film was well received, winning Best Film awards in five different award shows: Filmfare, IIFA, Annual Screen Awards, Stardust as well as the prestigious National Award. Following his success in India, he returned to doing theatre work. He performed in Vic Theatre, making his debut in Shakespearean plays with a role in “As You Like It”. He also played a role of a Chinese triad member in “Becoming The Night”. His roles are usually well recognized for his comic ability.
