Jack Davenport, his full name being Jack Arthur Davenport, was born on March 1, 1973, in Wimbledon, London, England. Davenport was born to a couple of actors, Nigel Davenport, and Maria Aitken. Though he was born in London, he spent the first seven years of his life living in Ibiza, Spain. When he was at a very early age of seven, his parents got separated, after which he was sent to the Dragon School in Oxford, for his education, keeping him away from the post-divorce effect. To complete his graduation, Jack got enrolled in Cheltenham College, and later joined the British American Drama Academy, to enhance his drama skills.
In spite of having a filmy background, Jack had no aim of pursuing his career in acting. While he was attending the British American Drama Academy, he delivered a performance during the summer. His performance had a great impact on a director from the Welsh National Theatre, who proposed him to work along with him for his dramas. In bits and parts, he played roles in Hamlet, when he was just 18 years of age. There he met
Rhys Ifans and became friends.
His initial roles motivated him to continue with the filmy career, and he went off to attend lessons in the University of East Anglia, which got him specifications in Films and English Literature. Jack seemed extremely uninterested in working as an actor, rather he preferred working behind the camera, among the crew. Keeping in mind Jack’s interests, his mother suggested him to ask for work from
John Cleese, in his then upcoming film, Fierce Creatures. Instead of hiring him to work behind the cameras, Cleese appointed him to play a role in front of the camera. This had been his first appearance, and soon after this, he auditioned for the role of Miley Stewart in a drama series titled, This Life.
The drama series, This Life, gained him recognition and popularity, and soon he began to feature in several films and television drama listed as The Talented Mr. Ripley, ‘Coupling’, and ‘Ultraviolet’. Adding to the list are the box office hits- Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man’s Chest, and At World’s End.
Jack had also performed as a vocal artist in films like The Thirty-Nine Steps, A Clockwork Orange, and also in a MasterCard ad film.
He featured in a film titled The Boat That Rocked, and also in an ITV1 drama series known as, The Incredible Journey of Mary Bryant, in 2006.
Early in 2011, Jack was entrusted in a musical drama titled ‘Smash’, where he portrayed a musical director.
Jack agreed to the bond of marriage with Michelle Gomez, an actress, in 2000, and the couple delivered a son, Harry, in 2010. Jack also owns a pet dog that belongs to the Dalmatian species, named Adolf.
