Gemma Ward

Gemma Ward is an Australian actress and fashion model known for her role in movies such as The Black Balloon, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and The Stranger. Ward has also featured on the cover pages of popular magazines such as Teen Vogue, Time, and Vogue Paris, among many others.

Gemma was born to parents, Garry and Claire Ward, in Perth, Australia. Ward pursued her education at the Presbyterian Ladies College, and later on, attended the Shenton College in Perth. Ward discovered her passion for acting at the age of ten, when she was featured in a school rendition of Hansel & Gretel. In 2002, Ward was accidentally scouted by the makers of the Australian reality show, Search for a Supermodel, while she was accompanying her friends who wanted to take part in the competition. In 2003, at the age of 15, Ward made her debut in modeling when she walked the ramp at the Australian Fashion Week. Shortly, Ward happened to meet Miuccia Prada, the owner of the fashion label, Prada, resulting in reigning on the era of baby face models such as Heather Marks, Lily Cole and Vlada Roslyakova. The following year saw Ward on the cover page of the American Vogue, which made her the youngest model to appear in the magazine. Ward was also featured in the photo shoots of various well-known labels such as Vera Wang, Calvin Klein, Valentino, and Burberry, among many others. 2006 saw Ward become the youngest cover page model for the Teen Vogue. Ward started her career as an actress in 2008 with the Elissa Down-directed comedy, The Black Balloon.
