Karl Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld, an artist, fashion designer, and a photographer and was born on 10 September 1933. He was born in Hamburg, Germany. His Father’s name is Otto Lagerfeld, and his Mother’s name is Elisabeth Bahlmann. His family was a follower of old Catholic Church. His father was a businessman. In an early age, he attended private school and later went to Lycee Montaigne where he studies drawing and history. In 1955 he won a design competition, sponsored by International Wool Secretariat and hired by them as Pierre Balmain’s assistant. In 1958 he started working in Jean Patou and designed two Haute Couture collections. His first collection ridiculed by everybody passed lame comments.

After this, he spent two years of his life roaming around on the beaches. In 1963 he started designing for Tiziani, a fashion house by Evan Richards. He worked there for six years and quit in 1969. In 1973 his collection for Chloe won appreciation from all around. In 1972 he worked with ‘Fendi’ and designed dresses, furs and accessories. He also designed for theaters. He worked for Luca Ronconi and Jurgen Flimm and designed the costumes for the actors of their theaters.

In 1982, he designed for Isetan, a Japan-based firm and created a collection for both men and women. At this time he was designing shoes for Charles Jourdan. He was designing sweaters for Ballantyne and was at the post of Fashion Designer in Trevira. In 2002 he collaborated with Diesel. He presented his collection at Paris Fashion Week, and it gets sold immediately. Lagerfeld worked for films as well. ‘Visionarie 23: The Emperor’s New Clothes’ is a work of him which consists of naked pictures of models and celebrities. He created for esteemed magazines like Harper’s Bazaar, Numero, Vogue, etc. He photographed for many advertising campaigns as well. Lagerfeld hosted for fictional radio station K109. Lagerfeld signed a deal with Dubai Infinity Holding to design houses at Island Moda. In 2015, he opened a store at Lagoon Mall, Qatar. In 2010 he received ‘The Couture Council Fashion Visionary Award’ by Fashion Institute of Technology. Karl Lagerfeld is a well-established fashion designer and photographer and is proving his worth in different genres.
