Chris Dickens

Chris Dickens is a British film and television editor with more than 40 film credits to his name. He was born in February 1967 in California, United States. As a teenager, his inclination grew toward painting and sculpting. Therefore, he went to Hailsham Community college and completed his graduation at Arts University Bournemouth. As a child, he made many super eight films and learned their mechanics through animation. He loved the editing part of filmmaking and got into film school to pursue his interest. His network with the college seniors' union landed him working as an Assistant Director on television, documentaries, and films.

During the early stages, he worked on a series called Spaced, Shaun of the dead (2004), and Hot Fuzz (2007) with Edgar Wright. Dickens is best known for his work on Slumdog Millionaire, directed by Danny Boyle. Initially, Danny was working with some other editor on the film. Due to work commitments, the editor had to quit and suggested Dickens fill in his spot. Thus, they collaborated and created the critically acclaimed masterpiece. The editing entails intercutting three-story strands and weaving them into a single piece of art. He went on to bag various awards for the movie– Academy award for best film editing, BAFTA award, American cinema editor's award, and a nomination for the Satellite award. Other achievements include a nomination for the Satellite Award for Les Misérables.
