Alexander Franis Marinos, popularly known as Lex Marinos is a legendary actor, writer, comedian, director, producer and media personality from Australia. Born on 1st February 1949 in Wagga Wagga, South Wales, Australia. Marinos was born to a Greek immigrant father, Fotios Marinopoulos and his mother, Anne Karofilis who was a Greek-Australian immigrant and the daughter of Adonis Karofilis. Lex is famously known for his acting role as Bruno, on perhaps the greatest Australian sit-com, Kingswood Country.
One of Australia’s remakes of several American sit-coms, which is centered around a white conservative World War 2 veteran who lives at home with his suer progressive wife and 2 sons. His popularity as Bruno made him an overnight star back in the 80s, his amazing comedic timing helped him become the host of Late Night Legends on ABC2, a sports show which used to host some of the most notable Australian athletes and Lex used to interview them on every episode.
He also started working as a radio host on Double J, his voice was iconic and his popularity kept on increasing. Marinos received the Medal of the Order of Australia for his tremendous performances to the performing arts. He was also appointed as the Deputy Chair of Council of Australia, which he served for a few years. In 2008, due to his immense work in the field of sports broadcasting, Lex was given the opportunity to deliver the 10th Tom Brock Lectures, which are a prestigious lecture delivered to discuss the history of Australian sports.
