Gil Kenan is a director of British, Israeli, and American movies. He is popular for his movies like City of Ember and Monster House. He was born in the capital city of England named London. His family shifted to a city in Israel named Tel Aviv, when his age was three. He moved to a neighborhood place in Los Angeles named Reseda, when he was eight years old.

He completed his education at the UCLA School of Theatre, Film and Television, which is one of the 11 schools within UCLA. The full form of UCLA is University of California, Los Angeles. There, in the year 2012, he received a graduate degree in MFA in the field of animation. He created The Lark, which is a 10-minute live-action/stop-motion film for the thesis of his graduation.
