Robert David Hall

Robert David Hall (born November 9, 1947) is an American actor best known for his role on the television show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation as coroner Dr. Albert Robbins M.D.

Born in East Orange, NJ, Hall attended Tustin High School in California before graduating from UCLA with a degree in English literature in 1971. Hall is a retired professional musician and accomplished guitarist, a pianist, a percussionist, and a mandolinist. He was a well-known radio DJ in Los Angeles for many years and, his musical talent has been mentioned several times in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. His character Dr. Al Robbins would occasionally sing while performing autopsies or with Gil Grissom when the latter came to the morgue to collect evidence. He has also done a lot of voice work for commercials and cartoons. Robert has appeared in movies such as Starship Troopers, The Negotiator, and television shows such as The West Wing and L.A. Law. He also provides narration for the CourtTV documentary series North Mission Road. Currently, Hall is working on "The Roymann Closure in the Netherlands," a short thriller written by writer/director David Grifhorst and executive producer Jop Douma.

Hall had to have both of his legs amputated in 1978 because an accident 18-wheeler truck crushed his car. The accident also caused the car's gasoline tank to explode, causing burns on more than 65 percent of his body. He now uses prosthetic limbs with ease, allowing him to move around. Several of his characters, including his CSI character, have openly admitted to having this disability. He is a well-known advocate for Americans with disabilities.

From 1969 to 1974, Hall was married to Susan Petroni, and from 1979 to 1987, he was married to Connie Cole. Andrew, his son from his second marriage, was born. Hall married Judy Sterns for the third and final time in 1999.
