Indian classical and bhajan (devotional) singer Juthika Roy was well-known worldwide. She was born in Amta, Howrah, Bengal, on April 20, 1920. She got her start in singing at a young age. When she was 12 years old, in 1932, she made her debut album. Some of the top songs from her four-decade career include "Sanjher Taroka Ami," "Emoni Borosha Chilo Sedin," "Jani Jani Priyo," "Dol Diye Kea Jai Amare," "Eai Jomunari Tire," and "Tumi Jodi Radhe Hote Shyam." She also recorded songs of devotion for the Hindi film business. In 1972, she received the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian honor in India. Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru were among those who admired her. After a protracted illness, she passed away on February 5, 2014, at age 93.
