Paran Bandopadhyay is a Bengali actor based out of Kolkata. He was born in Jessore (now in Bangladesh). He was too young when he lost his mother. As a child, Bandhopadhyay was fostered by his paternal aunt. He completed his education and pursued a degree in Commerce at the College in the University of Calcutta. Since his childhood days, Bandopadhyay participated in school plays. Later, he also acted in a few Indian People’s Theatre Association dramas, such as Ashanto Chille, Haraner Nathjamai, and Spartakas. Later, in 1999, he founded a theatre group named Shrutee Rangam, known for Paran Bandopadhyay’s acting and direction.

In 1962, before officially venturing into acting, Paran Bandopadhay took up a government job at the Department of Public Works Roads. In the late 90s, Sandip Ray discovered Paran Bandopadhyay, after which he debuted in a television short titled Shadhon Babur Shondeho, based on one of Satyajit Ray’s stories. It was a part of the series Satyajiter Gappo (1998) telecasted on DD Bangla. In 2000, Bandopadhyay retired from his government. The decade between 2000 to 2010 was full of success for Bandopadhyay. In 2012, Bandopadhyay portrayed the role of Darpa Narayan Chowdhary in Bhooter Bhabhishyat, directed by Anik Datta. He received much appreciation for this role; it was a super hit at the box office.
