Basudeb Mukherjee is a Bengali actor and a doctor. Mukherjee has done his schooling at Mitra Institution, Kolkata, West Bengal. In 1968, he went to the University of Calcutta to do an MBBS. He took a diploma in DGO - Gynecology, and obstetrics in 1969 from the same University. Also took fellowships from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists from London, United Kingdom, in 1976 and International College of Surgeons, the United States in 1990. He is the father of two children - Barnali Chatterjee and Basab Mukherjee. Mukherjee is an actor by heart and amuses the audience with his charming nature.

Mukherjee, a professional expert, has trained thousands of doctors and was the former director of the department of gynecology and obstetrics at Calcutta Medical Research Institute. He was the former president of the Bengal Society of Obys-Gyn, President of Indin Endoscopic Society, Past Rotary President, and Public Awareness Committee Chairperson of The Federation Of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI).
