Kalathil Santhippom is a rural drama scripted and directed by N Rajasekhar. RB Choudary produced the film under the Super Good Films banner. “Jiiva,” “Arulnithi,” Manjima Mohan, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Radha Ravi, Bala Saravanan, Robo Shankar, Aadukalam Naren, Vela Ramamoorthy and “Ilavarasu” are in the cast. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the music. Abinandhan Ramanujam handled the camera.
Ashok and Anand are good friends but are rivals while playing Kabaddi. Both are working in a finance company. Ashok is a free-spirited person, but he doesn’t believe in love. On the contrary, Anand is an emotional person with a short-temper. Anand’s parents searched for a suitable girl and fixed Kavya for him. But, Ashok’s prank plays the spoilsport and everything gets collapsed. To rectify his error, Ashok tries to unite Kavya with Anand. But, Anand’s decision brings a shock to everyone. What is his decision? Who is Sofia and what is her role in their lives? The answers bring the rest of the story.
We all know, Jiiva and Arulnithi are fantastic performers. They have done a good job in this film. They fit well in the roles and make the audience watch the film without boring. Manjima and Priya Bhavani Shankar are presented with decent roles and they did it comfortably. The rest of the cast had also done a neat job with the given roles.
The film didn’t have any super-duper plot, yet it is quite decent. The casting team should really be appreciated for picking the right actors. The leads are perfect. The comedy sequences with Bala and Robo are also appreciable. Senior actors, including Radha Ravi, Ilavarasu and Naren, backed the lead stars well. Although there are some emotional scenes, a few of them didn’t work out. The title made us think that it is a complete sports movie, but the sport is used only at the beginning and at the end. Although the characters are written well, if the leading ladies had been given a few more importance in their roles, it would have been better. However, they are not used as template heroines. BGM, songs, cinematography and production values are good.
What’s Not There?
Kalathil Santhippom has its own pluses and minuses. Although there are a few things that make us feel that it could have been filmed better, the film didn’t fail to entertain. Kalathil Santhippom is definitely worth watching once!
